Tax Information and
Miscellaneous Forms
HARRISBURG –On June 22,
2007, Governor Edward G. Rendell made it much easier for Pennsylvanians
to pay an annual, $52 tax supporting local services by signing into law
Senate Bill 218.
The measure also renames
the levy as the local services tax; it previously was known as the emergency
and municipal services tax.
Before today, employers deducted
the full $52 from an employee’s paycheck in one installment. Under the
new law, the tax will be paid, beginning this year, when the employee is
paid – and only $1 per week. Those who earn less than $12,000
a year will not have to pay the tax.
Workers living on a tight
budget cannot afford to pay the tax all at once. Breaking it down to no
more than $1 a week means the pinch is erased but local governments will
still get the revenue they need to build roads, reduce property taxes or
support emergency services. |
More On Local Tax
Information
Local governments in Pennsylvania
are authorized to impose a variety of local taxes from the earned income
tax to the real property tax to various other taxes.
Employers are required to
withhold from their employees earned income and emergency and municipal
services taxes imposed by municpalities and school districts. (The
emergency and municipal services tax is the former occupational privilege
tax.) The Governor's Center for Local Government Services is required
by section 9 of the Local Tax Enabling Act (Act 511 of 1965) to maintain
official information on these taxes in the Local Tax Register.
These links lead to more
information on each type of tax.

Kester, Earned Income Tax Collector for East Taylor; |
| I am the appointed Earned
Income Tax collector for East Taylor Township under the authority of the
Local Tax Enabling Act (LTEA), commonly referred to as “Act 511”. Act 511
is the current state law providing all Pennsylvania municipalities, except
Philadelphia, with the right to impose the earned income tax on the residents
of the township.
As the appointed Earned Income
Tax collector, I am charged with the duty of administering the school districts
and municipalities taxes. This includes collecting the tax, following the
rules and regulations to fairly enforce such tax and creating accurate
tax records and accounts for each taxpayer that resides in East Taylor
Township.
Please fill out the Earned
Income questionnaire, which is to be completed and returned within ten
(10) days of receipt. By completing this questionnaire, you will be fulfilling
your registration requirement under the Earned Income Tax rules and regulations,
and provide the township with accurate tax rolls. More importantly,
this information will be used to ensure your tax dollars are sent to your
taxing jurisdiction. As a resident of the township you should automatically
recieve this questionairre in the mail. If you are a new resident or do
not receive the questionairre for any reason, please download the form
to fill out and mail or fax to our township office.
All residents 18 years and
older must complete this questionnaire regardless of employment status
(unemployed, retired, college student, military personnel, homemaker, etc)
Please list any additional members of your household who are 18 years of
age or older. Any individual under the age of 18 years who does receive
earned income of any type must also complete this questionnaire. If you

Most resident taxpayers will
have this tax deducted by their employer. If it is not deducted by your

to this office. After receiving your completed questionnaire, we will send
you any necessary tax forms and create an accurate tax account showing
your correct reporting status.
I appreciate your cooperation
in returning the filled out questionnaire. Should you have any additional
questions, please contact my office at 814-322-1733 from 10 am to 4 pm
